TOBACCONIST
I guess it’s the part of me that sat attentively through high school anti-drug lectures and gruesome QUITline ads that gave me pause when I walked into the tobacco shop and for the first time ever, they recognised me. I asked for the same thing I always did (which had recently gone up 30c) and while he was ringing it up the guy who looked a little like another guy I used to play tennis with said, “By the way I finally saw the Avengers.” A couple months ago I walked in there with a friend having just seen it in 3D around the corner and we got into a conversation across the counter about the cartoon series. Apparently he watched a cam version.
