Ever since the Charlie Brooker thing I’ve been really self-conscious about posting good quotes from interviews in case some 14 year old diarist reblogs it with “ughhh this is totally me!!!” because I don’t want to be in any proximity to that shit, frankly, so I’m just going to say that there’s a really good quote in the recent Aaron Sorkin interview with Vulture where he says he’s sure someone has already thought of his good idea but he’s just not smart enough to figure out why it wouldn’t work, and I feel like that frequently, and I think it can be detrimental to writing because you end up leaving out stuff that you think is self-evident but that actually isn’t so obvious to a lot of people.
