Earth Hour
Earth Hour just started in Australia, so I’m having a Live Aid-style concert in my living room. Totally in darkness, of course. Where’s the music coming from? http://jakec.muxtape.com
I think I'm going to be sick...
ericlodwick: I just deleted about 40 gigs worth of music. :(:(:(:( Noooooooooooooo! How does one find time to listen to 40gb of music? I understand that some people like variety, but don’t you eventually reach a point where there are albums you haven’t heard in months? This practical rationality is why I’ve only got 4gb of music at any one time.
When I first found Vimeo, I sort of fell into being a shill for them. I was so impressed with it that I told everybody with two ears or two eyes about how much better than YouTube it was. Now, I find myself unconsciously doing the same for Muxtape. The odd thing: I’ve never done this for Valley startups like Digg.

“My name is Ben Schwartz, I was a freelance writer for Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update and the Late Show with David Letterman’s monologue. After two years of freelancing, a large number of my jokes made it to air. However, for every joke that was accepted there was a pile of jokes that were rejected. This is the story of those jokes…and more recently, other short films...

CollegeHumor is LFInterns →
What the hell is a “viral video expert”? Seriously though, if I lived in NY I would take this internship. Therefore, you have to do it for me, and vicariously I’ll achieve my dream of working as an intern at CollegeHumor.
The trannies are coming! The trannies are coming!
annamarie: Last night Ricky went to his first shareholders meeting for his new apartment. They touched on some very important topics, the most pressing being how to handle those gosh-darn tranny prostitues that insist on disrupting the neighborhood! Over the past few months rumos of these tranny prostitutes had been seeping through the grapevine to Ricky and me, but now they have been...
Muxtape, 24 hour mark
jstn: 8,685 users / 19,731 songs / 35,000 visits / $118.17 on S3 This is the last time I’ll post stats, it’s just been the most exciting 24 hours a starry-eyed young web developer could possibly have. This wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible Tumblr community, thank you guys for your amazing support. Thanks also to Vimeo for putting up with me, and especially to Peter McArthur...

I can guess the thought process for this video. AMIR, PATRICK and JEFF are having their traditional post-meeting half-naked soy sauce drinking dance party in the conference room. DAN enters. Dan: “You’ll never guess what I just saw” Jeff: “A Few Good Men” Dan (taking his shirt off): “How did you know?” Amir: “It says so on your shirt!”...

We tried this in the student council at school, but had to stop because apparently it constituted as child pornography (nobody else questioned why we filmed the meetings).

“Please, call me Winston” That’s the movie, right? Wil Wheaton is so right about the “cultural references to share with old people” thing. That’s why whenever I’m out walking my dog, I try to help middle-aged soldiers establish order in the Old West.

Telstra finally connected us, claiming its been connected since last Thursday, saying I must’ve configured the router incorrectly. THE NERVE! Anyway, its too late, we’re still moving back to our old ISP. First thing’s first: Watch the Jake and Amirs I missed, check two weeks of Twitter messages and emails and add new friends on various social networks.

Thanks, Ze.
It seems “clutch” is gaining more traction than “chill” as a replacement for “cool”. Internet, let’s turn this around.
Update
I moved to a new house last Thursday. Consequently, our Internet has been disconnected for the past couple of weeks (the reason posting has been sparse lately). We’ve had a lot of trouble with the new ISP (Telstra, ugh) connecting us, so we’re just gonna cancel our contract and move to our old ISP, where for the same price we get a connection 5x faster than we would’ve gotten...

Tim Sweeney sez: PC's too expensive, not enough... →
The problem is the leap for video games in terms of graphics and scope of gameplay (the ability to render environments 500km in the distance, for example) has exceeded the rate of growth of hardware advancement. While computers are still getting faster and faster, they’re also getting more expensive rather than being faster AND cheaper. If you tried to buy a computer with the same specs as...

Fucking Microsoft
I bought an Xbox 360 yesterday. Went down to EB with the intention of buying a preowned Pro console. Got to the desk, asked about it, they didn’t have any. ”Sorry, but we DO have the Arcades in for the same price, the only difference is the hard drive” I knew the Arcade came with a 256mb memory card rather than a Hard Drive. Pretty awesome deal for people on a really tight...
The creative process - Hiring and firing
Jake: I think Rachel's working until 2 again tomorrow, so if we go down at 12 we can be back in time for her to shoot The Net Show with us
Franic: nice
Jake: I wrote a pilot script, very easy to film
Franic: kool, who did you get for number 3?
Jake: Still [our friend], but I rewrote his character so that he'll be in it way less often
Jake: He's going to be like a new actor that we hire to be in the show
Franic: lol
Jake: Aside from the fact we don't have to rely on him as much this way, it also provides opportunity for future plot points and character development
Jake: Better than just having three identical characters
Franic: nice, so is he comming tomoz?
Jake: Probably not
Jake: Just going to film his parts later
Franic: pfft didnt think we could count on him
Franic: yeah
Jake: If I could find someone else willing to do it, I wouldn't be against replacing him altogether
Jake: Maybe casting him as somebody that appears every few episodes or whatever
Franic: yeh
Jake: Its a shame, I thought [our friend] would be pretty good for the part
Jake: But whatever, we need someone reliable
Franic: yeah
